It was another busy week at the high school as the 2014-2015 school year is just around the corner. The building is beginning to come back to life as many members of the faculty have begun to come in to make sure their classrooms and materials are in order for the first day of school.
On Wednesday night, the Monson School Committee recognized Senior Bailey Medeiros for her top fifteen finish at the Miss Teen USA pageant; congratulations Bailey! Check out the full story here.
Also at the school committee meeting, the lead nurse for the Monson Public Schools, Ms. Karen Fedora, reviewed the new food policies for the schools. In that presentation, she informed the committee of the compromise we were able to reach at the high school with the input of the student council. Students may enter the building directly through the cafeteria if they want to finish their coffee or breakfast before the start of school. This is a great example of the importance of our staff and students working together to promote positive culture in our school! It is very important to me that our students know that their opinions are valued and voices are heard.
We have a very exciting week with the new student picnic on Wednesday, 6 pm and the beginning of fall sports practices and tryouts. I look forward to welcoming our new students as well as our returning student athletes.
